From the archive: The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers in "The Idiots Abroad"

"One of the 100 Best Comics of the 20th Century"

(According to Comics Journal, and hey--they should know!) In "The Idiots Abroad," written between 1982 and 1987 and published in a series of three full color comix, Gilbert Shelton and Paul Mavrides pulled out all the stops. It all started simply enough, as the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers decided it would be cheaper to fly to Colombia and buy some herbs right at the source. Things begin to go wrong at the airport though, and before you know it Fat Freddy's trying to hide a nuclear bomb from international terrorists, Freewheelin' Frank's been captured by pirates and Phineas--is the richest man in the world?! Originally in color, the comix are now in fully toned monochrome editions (some copies of the color editions are also available). The material is available in color in the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers Omnibus Book.
